Job Description
The role will provide direction, support and guidance to our project teams on all
aspects of hands-on environmental management related to borrowpit development
and operation, meeting legal and company standards and helping deliver a culture
of continual improvement.
It will support site-based project design construction controls and mitigations, sustainability opportunities and deliver against client-led contractual requirements and Balfour Beatty tactical aspects to achieve our strategic goals. A key part of the role will be engagement with clients, stakeholders, subcontractors, and environmental authorities
What you'll be doing
- Managing complex environmental risks & opportunities
- Project sustainability plans
- Direct / support applications for consents, licences, permits.
- Environmental data validation and analysis
- Expert technical advice
- Oversee planned & unplanned inspections
- Environmental guidance & training for operational and supply chain teams
- Investigating environmental incidents
- Liaising with clients, regulators, external stakeholders
- Reporting against environmental KPIs
- This is a fully site based role.
Who we're looking for
- Full driving license and flexibility to travel
- Professional Membership level of a relevant professional body (IEMA/CIEEM/CIWEM) or ability to demonstrate equivalent experience and competence.
- Good knowledge of environment management with the relevant experience working in a construction environment and/or other operational-focused environment.
- Practical experience and sound knowledge of environmental statutory requirements, including environmental legislation, ecology mitigation, environmental licencing and consent applications and regulation.
- Understanding of the benefits of working collaboratively to obtain the best outcome.
- Interpreting and managing data, consistent record keeping and writing detailed reports.
- Ability to deputise for more senior role (e.g. ES Manager)
