As a Plant Fitter, your expertise is central to keeping our fleet hire-ready and performing at its best. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring our customers receive dependable, high quality equipment that meets their needs on time, every time. By proactively identifying and resolving issues, you’ll minimise downtime, maintain service reliability, and contribute directly to the success of our hire operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair faults on a wide range of heavy plant equipment, including excavators, dumpers, rollers, telehandlers, and generators
- Carry out routine servicing, inspections, and maintenance, ensuring all machines are operating safely and efficiently
- Identify potential issues early, using your mechanical knowledge to prevent downtime and reduce costly breakdowns
- Perform hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic fault-finding and repairs
- Complete accurate service reports and parts records, maintaining up-to-date documentation for all work carried out
- Work both independently and as part of a team, responding quickly to breakdowns and supporting colleagues across the depot
- Adhere to all Health & Safety procedures, ensuring safe working practices at all times
- Liaise with depot management and customers, providing clear updates on equipment status and repair timelines
- Maintain high workshop and machinery standards, ensuring tools and equipment are kept in good condition
- Represent Jarvie Plant professionally, contributing to high levels of customer satisfaction and service quality
