Job Description
We are seeking an exceptional Marketing & Communications Manager to join our team for the 2026 edition. This integral role within our small and dedicated team offers the opportunity to lead a creative marketing approach that helps IberoDocs—Scotland’s first showcase for Ibero-American culture—continue to reach and connect with diverse audiences across the country.
The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and imaginative individual with a high level of accuracy and a passion for Ibero-American cinema. You will be comfortable working autonomously while also being a committed team player, ensuring our programme reaches the broadest possible audience.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategy and Planning
- Create and implement a comprehensive strategic marketing plan to boost the profile of the festival, its individual events, and the year-round programme across all marketing and communications channels.
- Manage the marketing and advertising budget in collaboration with the IberoDocs Director.
Implementation & Content
- Lead the creation and distribution of the festival brochure and other marketing collateral in collaboration with the Graphic Designer.
- Coordinate print and digital advertising with media partners.
- Manage all IberoDocs social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn), ensuring regular updates and engaging, consistent, and responsive content to maximise reach and impact.
- Manage the monthly newsletter and develop campaign schedules for both the festival and year-round programme.
- Work with the Website Designer to ensure that all online information is accurate and up to date.
- Coordinate photographic and video documentation of the festival alongside the Digital Producer.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure the festival is well networked and maintains a high local and international profile, including creating targeted mail-outs, maintaining a partner database, and maximising cross-promotional opportunities.
- Support stakeholder communications and coordinate invitations to festival events.
- During the festival campaign, create press releases, liaise with press and media, facilitate content, and respond to media enquiries or emerging communications issues.
- Ensure all communication materials meet best-practice accessibility standards, including the provision of Closed Captions (CC) and British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation.
- Attend and support events as required, particularly during the festival period (16–26 September).
Analysis and Evaluation
- Analyse and report on website and social media analytics to assess the effectiveness of campaigns.
- Compile detailed marketing reports, including press coverage and statistical data, to meet funder reporting requirements.
- Ensure accurate information is collected and reported to the Audience Agency as part of our Creative Scotland Multi-Year Funding obligations.
- Contribute to the annual report and any additional reporting as required.
General Responsibilities
- Provide flexible support to the wider team, including attending regular team and individual meetings.
- Establish clear lines of communication and information flow for the Director and team members, providing regular updates and maintaining organised files in shared locations using designated software.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties as assigned by the Director.
Required Skills and Experience
- Demonstrable experience in a busy marketing role, ideally within a film festival or arts environment.
- Passion for documentary films or Ibero-American culture (Spanish, Portuguese, or Latin American) and their ability to create meaningful and inspiring experiences.
- Strong copywriting and proofreading skills in fluent English; Spanish or Portuguese is highly desirable. Excellent attention to detail is essential.
- Proven experience managing social media platforms and creating visually appealing content (e.g., using Canva).
- Understanding of PR and experience coordinating media relations, developing partnerships, and maintaining effective relationships with media partners and venues.
- Experience coordinating and distributing print marketing materials.
- Experience managing effective advertising campaigns, including collaborations with media partners.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure and meet deadlines while handling unexpected situations.
